Dr. Ellen Thrailkill

DMD, FAGD

Dr. Thrailkill joined our practice in July, 2012. She is a 2006 graduate of Wofford College in Spartanburg, SC where she earned a BS degree in biology. She received a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in May, 2010. She then completed a 2-year graduate program at the University of Alabama – Birmingham where she was chief resident and received advanced general dentistry training from 2010-2012. Dr. Thrailkill chose to pursue a general dentistry residency upon graduation from dental school in order to provide her patients with the most comprehensive dental care she possibly can.

In 2023, Dr. Thrailkill became a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD), a distinction held by fewer than 7% of general dentists in the U.S. and Canada. Achieving this honor required the completion of over 500 hours of continuing dental education and passing a comprehensive written exam. For patients, this means you can feel confident you are receiving care from a dedicated professional who goes above and beyond the basic requirements to deliver exceptional, comprehensive treatment.

In addition to serving our patients here at Great Oaks Dental, Dr. Thrailkill enjoys teaching general dentistry and has incorporated that into her practice. She has been on faculty with Palmetto Health Richland Hospital in Columbia, SC where she taught dental residents, and she currently teaches dental students from MUSC during their rotations in Greenville.

She serves on the board of the Greenville Free Medical Clinic and volunteers there regularly. She was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society in 2010 and is a member of the Greenville County Dental Society, the South Carolina Dental Association, the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, and the Christian Medical and Dental Association.

Dr. Thrailkill is an active member in her church and enjoys serving through local dental missions and abroad. Outside of the dental office, Dr. Thrailkill enjoys road biking, mountain biking, cooking, baking, and spending time with her husband (Forest), their family, and cocker spaniel (Charlie).

“It is a joy for me to be used to help patients achieve great oral health!”
